Maintenance & Care (MFC & MPS)
General Care & Maintenance
To ensure you get the most out of your MFC/MPS chair, we recommend following the care and maintenance guidelines below to preserve its comfort, appearance, and long-term performance.
Vinyl, Cordura, Nappa Leather
(All MFC/MPS versions as applicable, excl. the lambskin portions)
General Care
We recommend wiping the seat down with a clean, damp microfiber cloth (or similar cloth) with mild soap once every 1–2 weeks, depending on use. This will help remove debris, dirt, and/or oils that can accumulate over time, which can cause acceleration in wear and cracks. If you need to use cleaning products, make sure that it's a natural pH formula and follow the product's instructions.
Periodically check for loose screws and/or bolts and tighten as need be. For casters, gas cylinder, and/or seat adjusters, it’s recommended every 3-6 months to use silicon-based lubricant to further extend the mechanical performance of your MFC/MPS chair.
In the case of a loose armrest(s), you can fastening the M5 bolt underneath the armrest by turning clockwise approx 90 degrees.
Vinyl/Leather Cracks
If your chair is starting to show signs of cracks, that’s usually an early sign of the material drying out. The most important thing for chair longevity is to avoid any harsh chemical cleaners as well as keeping it out of sunlight/excessive heat areas as that will further accelerate the cracking.
For added protection, you can apply a light coating vinyl/leather safe protectant every couple of months to help maintain flexibility. Severe cracks/gashes would require a leather & vinyl repair kit or professional services.
Natural Lambskin
(Flying/Storm Sheep, Star Citizen Drake Raider)
For our MFC/MPS chairs featuring Natural Lambskin material, some extra care is recommended to preserve its softness, appearance, and overall lifespan.
General Care
Using a vacuum with a soft brush or upholstery attachment, work in gentle, consistent strokes to remove any dust, dirt, and/or debris accumulated over time. Avoid using high suction or aggressive attachments, as these can pull or distort the fibers over time. This should be done every 1-2 weeks, depending on use.
Flattened/Matted Wool
Over time, areas of the lambskin may appear flattened or matted due to regular use and pressure. To reinvigorate the fibers, this can be maintained by gently brushing the area with a soft to medium bristle brush to lift the pile, followed by vacuuming to remove any loosened debris. Then, use a portable steamer or iron and mist over the material from a safe distance to help relax the fibers. This allows them to stand upright again when brushed. It’s important to avoid oversaturating the material and to allow the wool to fully dry (~24 hours) after any moisture is applied.
Small/Localised Stains
For small spills/stains that occur, prompt spot cleaning is essential to prevent the wool from permanently absorbing the residue. Begin by gently blotting the affected area with a clean, dry cloth to absorb as much of the spill as possible. Avoid rubbing!
If stains persist, lightly dampen a cloth with cool water or a mild, carpet stain remover solution and gently blot the area. Follow any cleaning products as instructed, working from the outside of the stain inward. Use minimal moisture and avoid oversaturating the lambskin, as excess liquid can affect both the fibers and backing. After cleaning, blot away any remaining moisture with a dry cloth and allow the area to air dry completely (~24 hours). Once dry, a light brushing can help restore the natural texture of the fibers.
Any large area and/or deeper stains might require professional services to fully restore the lambskin material.
